Art class at Lake Littlesplat.

We had an afternoon art class at Lake Littlesplat yesterday working with charcoal and chalk pastels. It was great. Calypso especially had a wonderful time. All these years of nuding it up for money have given her a great (albeit accidental) art education.

She knows what all the words mean. Theories too. She even has opinions.

It was really good to be on the other side of the canvas.

We came home with five pictures of the lake - two charcoal, three pastel. We really like them. We enjoyed the company of our teacher and fellow students; the ladies in broad brimmed hats. We/I too wore a broad brimmed hat.

(And clothes. We wore clothes! It was great!)

Sound like fun. Clothes are good. I have a swishy yellow skirt which which makes me feel like a child on a swing.

**wants to hear some of calypso's artsy fartsy tartsy theories some time**

Did you draw an abstract of the lake, as though it was a naked self-portrait?

We came home with five pictures - one abstract with ducks, one hmmmm semi-abstract (big wedges of colours) and three landscapes (it was a landscape class, after all) of the lake and the trees.

The teacher didn't think much of my ducks! He did seem to like the two pictures of the three trees: one in charcoal and one in pastel. We used the charcoal sketch as a guide for the pastel.
