Thoughts upon the wisdom of living in a small town.

1. It's the faces. Once they become familiar, they cease to interupt my vision.

2. Small towns are good for keeping secret business secret. Cities lull their citizens with the illusion of anonymity. This encourages recklessness.

3. Like all who wear disguises, I hold inside a longing to be recognised.

in cities people assume they won't know everything about a person. most people are okay with this, in cities.
in small towns, it is offensive to some people if they don't know EVERYTHING about you.
Further to point 3., I would like to add
"..recognised and accepted for the person beneath the disguises."
Maybe that's just me, though.

A small town makes us careful.

Were we to be in a big enough town... we'd tell the truth, and gosh, that would be wild.

:)

yes, Emmajeans, you have it right, cities assume they don't know, small towns are frequently astonished.
